Beginning 1 January 2021, the United Kingdom will implement a new points-based immigration system under which all foreign nationals will earn points for specific skills, qualifications, salary levels, and employment in a shortage occupation. Most notably, however, the new regulations will also end the freedom of movement for EU nationals into the UK and eliminate the nation’s EU-specific immigration routes.
